ICA Studio completes the authorization process for the new waste-to-energy plant in Sedegliano

ICA Studio has successfully completed the authorization process for the construction of a new waste-to-energy plant in the Municipality of Sedegliano, in the Province of Udine, on behalf of Gesteco. The firm was responsible for the final design of the facility and managed the entire PAUR procedure—the Regional Single Authorization Provision—overseeing all the technical and administrative stages required for project approval.

The new plant will produce thermal and electrical energy through the waste-to-energy treatment of processing waste and residual materials that can no longer be reused. These include, in particular, the plastic rejects generated during the pre-treatment of the organic fraction collected through separate municipal waste collection.

The project stems from the need to manage locally more than 75 tonnes of waste per day that would otherwise be transported to facilities outside the region. This will reduce transportation and the resulting environmental, logistical, and economic impacts. In addition, the project will enable the redevelopment of a currently unused industrial site without requiring any further land take.

From a technological perspective, the project involves the application of the best solutions currently available. For the first time in a small-scale plant, systems normally used in facilities with significantly higher treatment capacities will be adopted.

The successful completion of this authorization process represents a particularly significant achievement for ICA Studio, confirming its ability to integrate plant engineering design, environmental expertise, and the management of complex administrative procedures.
